Our city of Temecula, CA, is a tourist and resort area. We’re 85 miles southeast of Los Angeles, and 58 miles north of San Diego. We have a wide variety of festivals and events, including the Temecula Valley International Film Festival, Temecula Valley International Jazz Festival, and other entertainment destinations. We also have some of the most beautiful parks in the county. These are a few of our favorite places to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

3 Great Parks Near Temecula, CA

Sam Hicks Monument Park

This quiet little park is a relaxing haven of peace and tranquility. It’s a 1.8-acre park filled with shady trees, a gazebo, and a granite monument. The monument was designed and built by renowned artist Sam Hicks to honor the memory of the pioneers from 1850 to 1890. Thousands of pioneers traveled through this area. The 150-ton white granite monument bears the names of 56 pioneers, including Kit Carson and Helen Hunt Jackson.

It’s a perfect site for all the family, and it’s dog-friendly too so long as your pooch is on a lead. There are barbecue grills and picnic tables available, making it a great spot for a family picnic in the summer sunshine. There are also restrooms available in the park itself. The park can be found at 41970 Moreno Road.

Temecula Duck Pond Park

Located in the heart of Temecula’s business district, this beautiful natural area provides a quiet space from the hustle and noise of the city around it. A sidepath surrounds the pond providing a place for quiet strolls.  Dedicated walkers will also be pleased to know that benches are strategically spaced around the pond.

The pond provides a home for ducks, geese, turtles, and other wildlife. Their presence provides a magnet for children, making it a great stop-over for families if you’re in the city with the kids and want to relax. There are also picnic benches available, and the park is close to numerous eating places where you can grab take-out to enjoy in the park.

Harveston Lake Park

Harveston is a 17-acre park located at 40299 Balboa Drive. The lake has numerous duck inhabitants, and they are used to people being around them. It’s important to remember not to feed the ducks despite the temptation. You can rent a paddleboat and explore the lake, walk or bicycle through the park, or just nap under a shady tree. The park is dog-friendly, but dogs must be on a lease due to the ducks.

Picnic tables are provided, and benches are placed around the park. There is a small store available where you can get snacks and drinks. The park doesn’t have a dedicated parking area, but there are numerous parking spaces available on the street.
